The Esplanadi Park is particularly beautiful during this time.

Iconic places of worship like the Helsinki Cathedral, Johanneksen Church and the Uspenski Cathedral often host special holiday events, including candlelit services and concerts that resonate with the spirit of the season. In addition to these prominent landmarks, many local churches throughout the city, such as the Kallio Church and the Temppeliaukio Church (Rock Church), also offer festive concerts that feature traditional Finnish Christmas hymns and melodies, making it a magical experience for locals and visitors alike.

Allas Sea pool is another great option that is located in the center of town. Bask in the warmth of the saunas and take a refreshing dip in the icy Baltic Sea. It's a relaxing and revitalizing way to enjoy the holiday season. Afterward, enjoy a hot drink or cozy up by the fire in their lounge. Finnish coffee culture is a cherished tradition, and in the heart of Helsinki, you'll find a wealth of cozy cafes and inviting spaces to savor a cup of coffee. Whether you're in search of a quiet corner for contemplation or a bustling spot to enjoy the buzz of the city, Helsinki offers a delightful array of coffee houses where you can indulge in this beloved Finnish ritual. In Finland, cinnamon rolls are a Christmas staple. Warm your soul with a freshly baked cinnamon roll. Café Regatta, is a delightful option, offering a picturesque view of the sea and a cozy, rustic atmosphere. Other cosy cafes include cafe esplanad, the market hall (kauppahalli), cafe Ekberg or Café Succès located on Korkeavuorenkatu. Speaking of Korkeavuorenkatu, walk down this road and explore the Design museum or visit fasaani- the second hand shop where you can find all kinds of Finnish treasures to take home with you. This happens to be one of my favorite streets in Helsinki, that is decorated beautifully during the winter season. If you love coffee like most Finns do, grab a takeaway Latte at Roberts coffee and if you do so before 11am, it will be half off. Visit Akateeminen (a book store in the center of Helsinki) and shop for sweet Christmas books while stopping in the Aalto cafe (located on the second floor) for a little pastry treat.
